Georgia is a stunning ruby Cavalier who is a recent retired breeding mama.  She’s approximately 4 years old, but has the playfulness and energy of a puppy.  Georgia is at her perfect weight of 20lbs even though she looks much smaller.

Georgia is in good health and has no evidence of a heart murmur.  Unfortunately, she has been diagnosed with dry eye as she is not producing any tears.  She will need her eyes flushed and have medicated drops in her eyes three times a day for life.  She has been spayed, vaccinated, HW tested, and is microchipped.  She had her teeth cleaned and now loves to show off her pearly whites.

Georgia makes her foster family smile and laugh so much.  They know she must have been the best mama to her babies because she now collects her toys and treats them as if they were her babies. She carries them from room to room and likes to display them all on the couch.  She does get territorial over them and doesn’t like to share them with her foster sisters.  Overall, she’s great with other dogs, but is not cat or kid tested. Although, with her demeanor, no issues would be expected. Only older children are recommended as Georgia still gets very scared of sudden movements and loud noises.

Georgia’s favorite time of the day is anytime she gets to eat. She could win a competitive eating competition, so it’s best if she eats her meals out of a bowl that can slow her down.  Even with a special bowl to slow her down, she still manages to finish her food first and moves quickly to steal her foster sisters’ food.

She is learning a lot from her foster sisters, and they are helping her gain confidence.  She will need at least one other dog in her forever family.  However, a non-dominant dog, or a dog not interested in toys, would be best as Georgia does not like to share her “babies” and quickly claims ownership of most toys.

Georgia is 100% potty trained.  She has been working on leash training, but it’s still a work in progress.  She much prefers being unleashed running around the fenced in yard at home.  She LOVES being outside - exploring and sniffing everything she can.  The bigger the fenced in yard, the better!  She has found her voice and likes to talk to the neighborhood dogs by barking back at them.

Georgia sleeps great at night. She goes back and forth between a large crate (with the door open) and a nearby dog bed with her foster sisters — both in her foster parents room.  However we’re sure she would much prefer sleeping in bed with her forever family as she is a great snuggler.

Georgia is being fostered near Saratoga Springs, NY.  We do not consider long distant adoptions so please consider your location before applying.  We require a securely fenced yard (no exceptions) and another canine companion in the home.  Please complete an application, then e-mail luckystarrescue@gmail.com of your interest.
