Violet came to us from a commercial breeding facility.  From her first day of freedom she embraced her new life with wonder and happiness.  Immediately, Violet loved being held, she is like a rag doll cat in your arms, soft and squishy.  Violet has lost a few pounds in foster care with a diet of quality food mixed with steamed vegetables.  She eats ANYTHING, and that also means, you must watch her putting things in her mouth.  Some dogs are mouth dogs and Violet is one.  She likes to chew on hard toys, any little speck of something on the floor and her ear fur, which have been trimmed to avoid that,  Violet loves treats, all other dogs her size, and resting on the big bed.  Violet will run to you for a back scratch if you crouch down and call her name.  Her tail wags and wags.  Her foster provider has not heard her snap or growl.  Violet willingly sleeps in a crate at night and will go in a crate with an offering of a small treat,  Wherever her foster mother is, Violet is.  She is a velcro dog.

Violet has lots of extra fur on her head.  Enough for a ribbon or two.  Her fur is thick and plentiful, so regular grooming is a must or thinning shears.  She is mostly potty trained, mostly because here in the northeast rain has come almost every day.  While she does not mind a little drizzle, the monsoon rain is not her thing.  Violet is scheduled for a spay and dental mid July.

A fenced in yard is a must along with another small dog to keep her company.  Violet spent her early years by herself, so it would be nice for her to have a human companion to spend her days with.  Violet has not been tested with cats, large dogs or children.  Knowing her temperament, she should accept older respectful children.

Violet is being fostered near Poughkeepsie, NY and will be available after she recuperates from her spay/dental procedures.  We will be screening applications in advance.  We do not ship dogs or put them on airplanes.  Please consider your location before applying.  After completing an application, contact luckystarrescue@gmail.com of your interest.
