Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (medium coat) : : Female : : Adult
My name is Hayley. I’m seven years old and I’m retired. I have a heart murmur so my foster mom gives me medication every day and I feel great. When I first came to my foster home everything was so new and different I was a little shy but that has changed. Now I love my life!
All I want is a forever home. I have foster siblings to play with and would like to have at least one gentle sibling in my forever home. My foster siblings and I run all over the big fenced backyard and chase squirrels up trees. I’m the best at this game. My foster mom says I need a securely fenced yard because I love being outdoors and so I don’t wander off in my enthusiasm to find new squirrels to chase. My favorite foster brother also likes to play too and we jump and roll around together. You wouldn’t know I had a heart murmur because I like to be so active.
When I’m not playing I am quiet. I walk nicely on a leash, can go up and down stairs and enjoy car rides. On Mother’s Day we went to see my foster grandma at her assisted living home. I felt like a star. Everybody wanted to meet and pet me. I put smiles on a lot of faces that day. With training my foster mom thinks I would be a terrific therapy dog and I agree.
Speaking of training, I am reliably house trained! I ring the bells on the back door when I need to go out. If there is nobody around to hear the bells I always use the wee wee pads on the kitchen floor. You see, my medicine makes me have to “go” a lot and I don’t want to have any accidents. I love to snuggle, give kisses and be petted. Sleeping on the big bed is great but I’m okay sleeping on my own bed too.
Good with other gentle dogs, friendly toward house cat but may chase neighbor’s cats in the yard, okay with older, quiet, respectful children, playful, affectionate, eager to please, even tempered, intelligent, would do best with a companion dog, preferably another Cavalier. Halyey could possibly be a good therapy dog.
