Meet Brook:

Brook came to Lucky Star in June 2023 from an Amish farm in Ohio at the age of 7 months.  She was surrendered to us because of a high grade heart murmur.  Her visit to the cardiologist revealed that she had a pulmonary stenosis which required a heart catheter balloon procedure which was successful.  It has been a long road to finally have her ready for adoption. She has made great progress. What a sweetheart she is!

You may have seen our post on facebook that Brook contracted Parvo somewhere after coming to us and spent time in the ER.  After her recovery and regaining her full strength, she was scheduled for her heart surgery.  The heart surgery went very well and resulted in reduction of high heart chamber pressures.  A follow up echo was scheduled a month later to check her heart status post surgery. The cardiology report was excellent and we were told we could expect her to live a normal life and recommended a follow-up echo to be done in Aug 2024.  She is not on any heart medication. Two months later, Nov 13,  Brook was spayed and had a small umbilical hernia repaired with no complications. She is fully vaccinated, no other health issues were found and she is at an excellent weight of 16.7 bs. Brook, who turned 1yr old October 30th, is finally ready to be adopted! 

Brook is an active, happy puppy.  She is curious and has learned to obey commands like sit for a treat and come when called. Brook is making progress on house training but is not fully trained yet.  She is a  frisky, lovable girl who keeps her eyes on you. She settles down nicely for naps and loves to play with toys and the other dogs. She must have a home with a fenced yard, another canine companion and someone who can continue to work on her manners and potty training. She does not like to be crated and makes, expresses her dissatisfaction and therefore has not been crated.  She will need another recheck echocardiogram in Sept of 2024.

Brook is being fostered in Ann Arbor, MI.   Please complete an application if she sounds like a good fit for you and your family. We do not consider long distant adoptions, no planes, no commercial transports and a fenced yard that is attached to your home as well as canine companionship. Mature children will be considered.
