The Rainbow Bridge

This page is dedicated to all the prescious angels who have gone before us.  Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... Author unknown...

Jack
6/8/14: Here is the beautiful tribute that Sara wrote to her foster Jack. He was very loved. Dear Jack, I remember the first time I saw your picture. Many may have passed you by, but there was something inside those big brown eyes of yours that drew me to you instantly. When I asked if I could foster you, I didn't really know what I was getting myself into. You were my first, but definitely not my last. You taught me so much about life in your short time. You were thankful for absolutely everything and you had such vigor and excitement. You tried to attack other dogs every chance you got - even the dog statues we seen (funny story!)Your smile was a huge light in my life. You could make me happy any day! My mom said you were lazy and liked to sleep in front of the doors. When you came here, you barked your head off for a few days before you decided you were here to stay. You were mostly a pill - a whole color at heart. Remember the time you took your giant spider toy to pee?? You refused to let go of it, even though you tripped on it the entire walk to the elevator and back. I remember the first time you kissed me, and the first time your big head fell asleep on my lap. Last night I gave you a beef tendon for the first time. You were so happy with it! I had a chuckle when I realized you had no idea how to hold it with your feet - it was probably your first... So of course, I held it until it got small... You had me wrapped around your little toes! Even though we were only together a short amount of time, your paw prints have etched memories into my heart that I will cherish forever. . People say I am the one who saved you, but the truth is, I think you saved me. You came into my life at a time when I needed you so much. I had fallen apart mentally and emotionally from having Kosmo and Faith only half the time. I didn't realize how much it affected me to not have anything to fuss over ... I went to the doctor and he gave me pills but of course, I did what every crazy dog lady did and added you instead. You filled the void when they were gone and then some. You had so much love to give and were so thankful for the love I gave you back. You quickly became my buddy and a new best friend for me. I can't believe I lost you today. My heart is absolutely shattered. I tried to do everything I could to save you, it just wasn't meant to be. You died on the way to the emergency vet - probably because you knew I was incapable of making the decision to let you go myself. One of my favorite lines from a poem I have read many times.. "If love alone could have saved you, you never would have died" Please keep God and all of the other dogs you see up there company. Maybe you can meet my grandma and lay at the end of her bed until I get there?? I'm sure she would like that. I love you Jack.. Run free and enjoy yourself.. I look forward to getting a big hug and kiss when it's my turn and I see you again.

Jackson

Jackson came to Lucky Star in 2011 as a 4 year old boy. He was adopted and loved by his Mom Roberta and lived in Kentucky with his sister cavalier. Roberta let us know today that Jackson passed away a few weeks ago from congestive heart failure. He was a beautiful boy and will be missed by his Mommy.

Jake

I lost my Jake today, March 14, 2022. He would have been 16 this coming May. He was my most beloved boy. At 15 Jake lived a rich life until the last few months. It started with his legs giving out, then a seizure, then other neurological problems. I loved him fiercely and I am heartbroken. Pat Wellmeier

Jake (LS Thaddeus)
Jake was about ten months old when we drove to West Virginia and picked him up from his foster parents. He was quite timid but fit in well with our little pack, another Cav named Cricket, and a terrier cross named Blondie. We took Jake along with us to horse shows up and down the east coast where everyone who saw him made a big fuss over him, and soon his timidness was gone. He traveled all over with us and was the best little companion you could ask for. He was diagnosed with MVD at about 7 and was helped by medications for about a year and a half, then he started to struggle even with the best of care. Our wonderful vet came to our house and we laughed and cried while we talked about Jake as he was gently put to sleep. He was so sweet. He was laid to rest in our back yard with two of our departed Cavaliers. He is sorely missed

Jamie

Pat Wellmeier lost her Jamie April 4 to MVD. Jamie was 8 years old and a very sweet, gentle boy. I fostered him and then adopted him. He was a wonderful cavalier brother to my other 4. I will miss his sweet face so much.
