The Rainbow Bridge

This page is dedicated to all the prescious angels who have gone before us.  Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... Author unknown...

Dillon
Dillon He came to us just before Christmas in 2005, and we were privileged to share our lives with him for nearly 5 years. We thought we'd have more time, but he died very suddenly, in my arms, (on August 30, 2010) from cardiac arrest related to his MVD. He was one of the sweetest dogs we've ever known. ~Denise Brauner

Rex

Rex  went to the bridge in April, 2014 after suffering from Hepatocutaneous Syndrome. He came into rescue with this disease and his time with Lucky Star was far too short. Rex had an amazing spirit and greeted everyone he met with a wagging tail and smile. He touched the lives and hearts of everyone he came into contact with.  Rest in Peace sweet, gentle Rex. You will be missed greatly by all who had the pleasure to meet you.

Owen

My sweet Owen crossed the Rainbow Bridge tonight (5/5/14) suddenly and quietly. He came in from the back yard with Ariel, lay down in front of his favorite chair, and slipped away. I adopted Owen from Lucky Star Cavalier Rescue two days after Christmas in 2010. I had not been at his foster mom's house more than fifteen minutes before he climbed into my lap and claimed me as his own. Easy-going, always with a smile, Owen was the quiet leader of the Giles brigade. He was usually in charge of notifying the rest of the group that I had driven into the driveway at the end of the day, and he considered it his duty to protect us from all animals on the television. He never objected to Cavaliers on TV but any other dog, cat, horse, cow, or gecko received a warning from Owen.
Owen was everyone's favorite. He had a way of looking at you that said, "Welcome, friend, and be at home here," that seemed to appeal to people and pups alike. He was always an easy friend to new fosters and accepted any and all into the group.
Born with deformities in his legs and hips, Owen had a rolling gait that kept him from running much, but he loved to wrestle, especially with his buddy Riley and with my son Michael. In recent months he was teaching Ariel to wrestle too, and the sight of 35 pound Owen playing with 13 pound Ariel was a treasure!
So run free, my big sweet boy. Run in the sunshine with Casey and Tanner, free from pain and sorrow. You are forever in my heart!
